We all like having a smooth skin, but shaving causes redness and razor burns which tend to look really bad. Here are some tips to help you treat razor shaving irritation and others to help you avoid them all together.
The number one rule is to never shave areas that are already irritated and have red bumps from a previous shaving. Shaving these area will increase the damage. Try to give the skin some time to heal.
Pick the right razor. If you go for the cheaper variety, you are more likey to cut and irritate your skin. Pick a razor with a moving head and mutliple blades, it is well worth the price. Do not over use the razor.
Prepare the skin and hair by showering before shaving. The heat and moisture from the shower will soften skin and moisturize it.
Apply the shaving cream generoulsy. The cream will hydrate and lubricate the skin for the razor to path smoothly.
Shave your hair in the direction of the growth but make as few pases as possible.
If you skin get irritated anyway, treat with lotion that contains alo vera which will calm the irritation down. There are also some creams that contain small amount of cortisone that would do wonders to your skin. Ask your doctor about them.
If all else fails, consider laser removal of the hair in the areas that are extremely sensitive.
